Manways

Manways are the openings or access points to a pressure vessel or storage tank. The number of manways, the size of the manway opening, and the manway style vary from application to application. Imperial Steel Tank Company supplies manways and hand holes ranging from 6″ to 36″ in diameter. We construct our manway products from the same materials used to build our pressure vessels and storage tanks which means that they can be standard or API code. Imperial Steel Tank Company offers the following manway styles, each custom matched to your container’s particular process, pressure, and temperature conditions:

• Standard or Bolted-Style Manways = basic configuration suitable for most applications, top and side entry, pressure or atmospheric service, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel (All Grades)
• Quick-Open Manways = fast access mechanism suitable for critical process tanks and storage vessels that require frequent access, top and side entry, pressure or atmospheric service, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel (All Grades)
• API Code Sanitary Manways = specialty design meeting food grade and other industry regulations, top and side entry, pressure or atmospheric service, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel (All Grades)

The manway selection process may occur as part of the overall design process for a custom fabricated tank.
